What is foundation?
Foundation is exactly what it sounds like – the foundation of your makeup look. It can even out the complexion, blur the skin and add coverage while creating a base for everything that comes next. But how much coverage, what finish and even how you apply it is entirely up to you.
A foundation can be worn in a thin layer for a natural, skin-like result, built up where you want more coverage or mixed with other products to completely change the finish. The point isn't to cover your skin. It's to give you a canvas to create on.
Meet Ctrl+ SKIN foundation
Ctrl+ SKIN is where pro-level makeup meets performing skincare. Developed with makeup artist expertise, the lightweight, serum-like foundation blends seamlessly into the skin and delivers medium, buildable coverage with an instant blurring effect and a naturally radiant second-skin finish.
Specially coated pigments, created using advanced Japanese wet-coating technology, help prevent oxidation and keep the color true to tone throughout the day. The technology also improves resistance to sebum and humidity while helping the formula apply smoothly and evenly.
Ctrl+ SKIN comes in 25 carefully selected, MUA-approved shades. The range is spanning from the fairest skin tones and olive undertones to deeper shades with cool undertones. Not sure which one is yours? Head to the Ctrl+ SKIN product page to find your shade.
Foundation meets skincare
Why choose between makeup performance and skincare benefits when your foundation can do both?
Ctrl+ SKIN is powered by Ectoin and Synergistic moisturizing complex at efficacy levels. Ectoin helps support and maintain the skin barrier, while Synergistic moisturizing complex combines 10 moisture-binding molecules, including hyaluronic acid, natural moisturizing factors (NMF) and moisture-binding sugars, to help attract and retain moisture.
And we didn't just take their word for it. The finished formula has been clinically and instrumentally tested. Ctrl+ SKIN was shown to increase skin hydration by 17% after 10 hours and by 30% after 28 days of use, while helping maintain optimal skin barrier condition.
The formula is non-comedogenic and dermatologically tested on sensitive skin, with no added fragrance or perfume. It's designed to work across dry, oily, combination, mature and sensitive skin.
The people wearing it had some things to say, too. In an independent consumer test, 95% agreed that their skin felt comfortable and hydrated without feeling tight during wear, while 95% experienced a weightless, second-skin feel. And when it comes to building coverage? 100% confirmed that Ctrl+ SKIN could be built up without looking heavy or cakey.
Looks like skin. Feels like skincare. Performs like MUA-approved makeup.
How to apply foundation
Brush, sponge or fingers? Yes.
There's no single right way to apply foundation, and Ctrl+ SKIN is designed to let you customize both coverage and finish. Start with a thin layer for a natural, skin-like result and build in light layers wherever you want more coverage. For something even sheerer, mix it with your moisturizer or day cream for a skin tint-like effect. Want more radiance? Blend it with a liquid highlighter and turn up the glow.
For sponge application, choose based on how you like to work. The sponge is designed to help you reach even the smallest areas of the face for more precise application, while The other sponge makes quick and easy blending across the face, well, quick and easy. You can also apply Ctrl+ SKIN using your favorite foundation brush or simply blend it with your fingers.
However you apply it, prep your skin with your preferred skincare and moisturizer first to create a smooth, hydrated base.
How to make foundation last longer
Want your foundation to stay put? How you prep and set your base can make all the difference.
A setting spray isn't only for the final step. Apply it before foundation to prep the skin, then bring it back once your makeup is finished to help lock everything into place. On set long lasting setting spray is made for exactly that – extending the wear of your makeup without changing the finish you've created.
Setting powder can also help set foundation and prolong its wear, especially in areas where you tend to get shiny. Lightly apply Infinity filter over Ctrl+ SKIN for a soft-focus, more matte finish while keeping your base in place.
Prefer your foundation on the dewier side? On set subtle glow setting spray adds hydration and radiance and can also be used as a refreshing face mist throughout the day. You can even combine the two: use Subtle glow when you want an extra boost of hydration and glow, then finish with the Long lasting setting spray to lock in your look.
Your coverage, your finish, your way. Consider your canvas ready.
